From Russia With Love

We meet Sergei Dobroserdov - CEO and visionary behind the DynamiqYacht brand - and learn about a fascinating career than began in Moscow and a life-long passion for the sea.

You’ve enjoyed a truly fascinating career, how did it all begin?

You can say I’m an industry veteran, as I’ve been involved in all aspects of the yachting business, such as sales, construction, charter, management, and design, throughout my career. I was born in Moscow, Russia and started my career as an international maritime lawyer.

In 2000 I entered into the brokerage business as director of Nakhimov Yachts. In 2002-2003 I represented the world leading brokerage house Fraser Yachts in Russia. After managing the build of more than 20 superyachts ranging from 22 meters to 120 meters, I’ve developed an understanding of how the modern, efficient superyacht should be designed and built, and created the base for the Dynamiq brand of yachts with easy operation and management profiles as well as high resale values.

Even though Dynamiq is still quite young, it has already achieved important awards and collaborated with some of the world top brands including Trussardi, Studio F.A. Porsche, and Klassen, which in my opinion, shows the strength of our product.

Have you always had a passion for yachts and boats?

Yes, ever since I was a child, I had visited seaside countries, especially in the East Mediterranean, like Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. It was there that I became passionate about the sea and yachting, and since then, I always dreamed about entering the industry and making wonderful ships myself.

What makes your business so unique?

Dynamiq’s philosophy of “Live smart. Be Dynamiq” is not just us trying to sound cool. Our goal with our yacht range is to create super efficient, easy to customize and order, one-of-a-kind boats.

Our industry-first (and still the only) online configurator, as well as our highly informative and sleek website allows first time, as well as experienced, owners to customize and order their boat with clear prices and delivery schedules. That is to say, we do the most to make sure our client gets what they want, as soon as possible.

As a global organization are your clients far and wide?

You’ve rightly noted that we deal with the whole world, and at the moment our clients are coming from the Middle East, Germany, and Eastern Europe, but we’re in negotiations with US and Australian clients, and even clients from Argentina.

How big is your team?

We are a boutique shipyard, not aiming for the numbers, but for quality, and our production facility enables us to build up to three yachts simultaneously. Key personnel are around 25 people, and we use the best sub-contractors when necessary.

I imagine custom builds bring new design ideas and influences to the table -  have there been any customer ideas that simplyaren’t possible?

We have plenty of unusual requests, but to date, we can’t remember a request that wasn’t fulfilled, we always make it work.

As CEO what is your greatest challenge for 2022 - and beyond?

Our greatest challenge for now is to make our yachts even more efficient and sustainable, so we are constantly monitoring all the latest technology and are trying to implement them aboard our yachts.

We want clients to know that their boats live the smallest possible carbon footprint and are truly green in every sense.

What aspects of your role is most enjoyable?

The most exciting part of the job is to combine tasks and information from completely different fields and industries. Be it the latest interior design trends, hybrid power plants, exterior metallic paints, naval architecture studies, or what have you, a superyacht combines it all.

Are you, like many of your customers, able to winter in the Caribbean and summer in Europe? If so, what is your favorite part of the Caribbean - and why?

My favourite part of the Caribbean is the Bahamas, especially the Exuma islands, as they are extremely picturesque and romantic. The nature there is wonderful and unique, and the swimming pigs in Major Bay are loved by the children.

Are you working on any amazing top secret projects that you can tell us about?

We are currently working on a top-secret series for active owners, which will create its own niche in the market. It will be introduced in early 2022, so keep your eyes peeled!
